Call of Duty Mobile Season 9 Nightmare: Hovec Sawmill, Halloween Standoff

Call of Duty Mobile Season 9 Nightmare Announced

Call of Duty Mobile is entering its latest content season, and this time it's a particularly intriguing one, given the current Halloween season we're in. Season 9 Nightmare of Call of Duty Mobile has been announced and will be released later this week.

This year's Call of Duty Mobile Season 9 Nightmare is the most recent season, and it will take place in October and November. Players can expect the new Call of Duty Mobile content to be brutal and creepy, as indicated by the Nightmare theme for the coming month.

This can be seen in the main art for the next season, which features a truly terrifying clown, Joker-like, killer soldier, whatever skin that skin is. The background, with the burning buildings and pumpkins and candles in the foreground, is also quite Halloween-themed.

Though the other character isn't quite as horrific, the single clown skin is enough to indicate that Tencent is going all out for Call of Duty Mobile Season 9 Nightmare. This will be one of the game's creepiest seasons in the last two years, so it'll be a nice addition, especially after Season 8, which is still going on.

There's a lot of new material coming to the new season, including new multiplayer maps that fit the season's atmosphere nicely, plenty of new horror-themed characters in the battle pass and store, and a lot more for players to look forward to over the next month or so.

You just have a few more days to experience the new Call of Duty Mobile Season 9 Nightmare season. We've previously covered it with the release of patch notes, but the season has yet to begin at the time of writing.

On Thursday, October 21, at roughly 5 p.m. PT, Call of Duty Mobile Season 9 Nightmare will begin. There's a potential, though, that users will be able to download and install the season update for Android and iOS ahead of time, allowing them to hop straight in and experience the content when it drops Thursday evening.

What’s New: Battle Pass Content

As we approach the month's final full week next week, this new season of Call of Duty Mobile arrives just in time for Halloween. The new battle pass, as with each new season of content, is one of the first things you'll notice.

Given that it's Nightmare season, the battle pass is particularly eerie this time around, with plenty of creepy items to gather. You have a lot to look forward to this season, whether you want to pay for the Season 9 battle pass or continue with the free prizes.

To begin with, there are the free things that will be available to all players in Season 9 without the need to spend any real-world money. The free edition of the battle pass has two main features, the first of which is a new operator skill that may be used in online engagements.

The Tak-5 operator talent allows you to become the group's doctor by healing the team in the middle of conflict while also providing them with some extra health. This is a situational ability that you can acquire at tier 14 and is incredibly powerful.

Then there's the new Swordfish functional weapon, which will almost certainly be a new melee weapon available at tier 21. Aside from that, the free tiers feature charms, weapon skins, and other goodies. However, if you desire additional stuff, you may get the premium battle pass, which includes various terrifying themed operator skins as well as a plethora of weapon blueprints.

Two New Multiplayer Maps

Call of Duty Mobile Season 9 Nightmare will feature two new multiplayer levels, which will be a pleasant change of pace after the last two seasons of the mobile game. To begin with, one isn't necessarily fresh new, but it has been missing for a long time.

That map is the Halloween edition of the fan-favorite Standoff map, in which players can explore this great tiny town and all of its streets and interiors, all of which have a nice Halloween flavor to them. For the eerie season, the town is decked out in pumpkins and orange lights.

However, the most noticeable change on the Halloween Standoff map is the nighttime setting for this popular site, not only the decorations. It's one of the best Call of Duty maps for a reason, and now you'll get a taste of what it's like to fight someone around tight corners when visibility is limited.

The Hovec Sawmill area from 2019's Modern Warfare is the other brand-new map for this game. In this map, you're in the middle of a deserted village with a constantly burning sawmill that you must battle around.

Furthermore, there are huge open fields all around the settlement, underlining the sniper potential. It's a deadly map, and some may find it challenging to battle on it. However, because Hovec Sawmill is one of Modern Warfare's most interesting maps, you'll be able to play it later this week.

Trick-or-Treat Halloween Event

For a limited period, Call of Duty Mobile Season 9 Nightmare will feature several special events. The major one is a Halloween-themed event called Trick or Treat. This is an intriguing new limited-time event that allows players to go trick-or-treating within the game itself.

Each Call of Duty Mobile player will have their own special chamber in which they will be able to "live" for the duration of the Trick or Treat Halloween limited-time event. This is your home, and the time has come for you and your buddies to go trick-or-treating.

You'll be able to set up your room for your pals to come over and knock on your door, and you'll be able to reciprocate. You'll be testing your luck as you knock on someone's door to see if you'll get a trick or a treat.

If you are given a treat, you will be given candy as soon as possible. That candy is necessary for gaining event experience and unlocking the unique event goods. If you are tricked, however, you will be given an in-game job to accomplish in order to earn the limited-time event XP required to unlock the goodies.

Halloween-Inspired Undead Siege Returns

In addition, Call of Duty Mobile Season 9 Nightmare will feature the return of a fan-favorite game mode as well as a few more limited-time Halloween variations. First and foremost, the long-awaited return of Undead Siege arrives just in time for Halloween, with a few tweaks.

This will be a Halloween-themed version of the Undead Siege game mode, with players battling it out on the Isolated area, which is fascinating given the game's new Blackout battle royale map. Undead Siege returning to promote that map today would have been fantastic.

There are more zombie enemy kinds than ever before in this returning game mode, including the Warden, Heavy Gunner, and Pulverizer enemy types. This should mix up the game mode's formula, which had been very confined in its prior edition.

There will also be a new daytime escort quest available, implying that there will be a daytime-only mode, possibly even more relaxing than Undead Siege's intensive day and night cycle. There are a few other Halloween-themed modes in addition to the return of this mode.

For starters, there's a 10 on 10 Pumpkin Confirmed game, which we expect will be similar to Kill Confirmed but with a total of 20 players with pumpkins instead of dog tags. This season, Isolated will introduce a nighttime battle royale mode, as well as new zombie scenarios in Blackout.

Drop Zone and Other Events

In terms of game modes, there will be a whole new game mode in Call of Duty Mobile multiplayer in Season 9. Drop Zone is coming to the mobile game, bringing with it the fan-favorite Modern Warfare 3 game mode.

For those unfamiliar with Drop Zone, this new game option will feature a rotating drop zone or Hardpoint around the battlefield. In this game mode, you can only collect scorestreaks while in the zone, and each player earns more points, thus it's critical to have as many people as possible defending the zone.

Furthermore, while you are in the Drop Zone, care package drops will occur, providing for an intense capture and defense-style match. Season 9 has a number of new seasonal challenges and featured events to look forward to.

The Thumper has a new weapon for the launcher class of weaponry, as well as a new tactical drone ability called Flash Drone, which can hamper the enemy's vision in battle. The new Pumped battle royale class gives your operator a jetpack and new methods to roam the map for battle royale fans. All of these will be available later in the season, primarily as part of seasonal challenges and events.

Clan Wars and New Halloween Draws

Season 9 will be upsetting for Clan Wars fans because it will not feature a new Clan Wars season. However, other adjustments coming to the portion of the game, such as resetting the currency to zero and storing goods beginning to rotate around, help to mitigate this.

While some players may be concerned about these changes, they will benefit because things will be easier to obtain in Clan Wars due to increased monetary payouts. In Season 10, there will be more updates to Clan Wars, so stay tuned.

For gamers that don't mind spending some money in the store to celebrate Halloween, there will always be new products. You will be able to purchase new operator skins as well as weapon blueprints. There's even a hint of a possible crossover character in there.

You'll be able to "play with your victims like one of horror's most renowned villains," according to the Call of Duty Mobile Season 9 Nightmare patch notes. It's unclear who this will be, but it appears that a fan-favorite horror movie hero may be on the way. With Season 9 premiering on Thursday, October 21, 2021, we should learn more about this soon.
